Suppression of bremsstrahlung at nonzero temperature.
The first-order bremsstrahlung emission spectrum is αdω/ω at zero temperature. If the radiation is emitted into a region that contains a thermal distribution of photons, then the rate is increased by a factor 1 +N(ω) where N(ω) is the Bose-Einstein function. The stimulated emission changes the spectrum to αTdω/ω for ω ≪ T . If this were correct, an infinite amount of energy would be radiated in...
متن کاملUnified model of hyperthermia via hysteresis heating in systems of interacting magnetic nanoparticles
We present a general study of the frequency and magnetic field dependence of the specific heat power produced during field-driven hysteresis cycles in magnetic nanoparticles with relevance to hyperthermia applications in biomedicine. Employing a kinetic Monte-Carlo method with natural time scales allows us to go beyond the assumptions of small driving field amplitudes and negligible inter-parti...
متن کاملMagnetic Heating of Nanoparticles: The Importance of Particle Clustering to Achieve Therapeutic Temperatures.
Hyperthermia therapy for cancer treatment seeks to destroy tumors through heating alone or combined with other therapies at elevated temperatures between 41.8 and 48 °C. Various forms of cell death including apoptosis and necrosis occur depending on temperature and heating time. Effective tumoricidal effects can also be produced by inducing damage to the tissue vasculature and stroma; however, ...

Ferromagnetic nanoparticles in the 10–14 nm size range are examined for their size and interaction dependent magnetic properties. From X-ray magnetic circular dichroism the orbital-to-spin magnetic moment ratio is determined and found to decrease significantly with particle size. This is in accordance with previous complementary studies on smaller particles and highlights the difficulty of fitt...
متن کاملMixing of charged and neutral Bose condensates at nonzero temperature and magnetic field
It is expected that in the interior of compact stars a proton superconductor coexists with and couples to a neutron superfluid. Starting from a field-theoretical model for two complex scalar fields – one of which is electrically charged – we derive a GinzburgLandau potential which includes entrainment between the two fluids and temperature effects from thermal excitations of the two scalar fiel...
